Main issues: Global Thermostat has developed a groundbreaking technology not just to capture CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), but also to tap a trillion-dollar market and sell it. The company hopes to achieve its mission by leveraging new technology with market-based thinking. However, there still exist potential issues in terms of technology, economy and society, being the obstacles of implementing the ambitious plan. Technologically, it has been noted that effectively capturing large amount of CO2 from air is actually more costly that the company claimed. Economically, at this time, no one will invest or fund Global Thermostat because of the lack of practical business model. In the social aspect, the ability of Global Thermostat’s technology to capture CO2 from the air will give the society a false hope that CO2 emission will not be a problem anymore. Considering all the issues, Global Thermostat has to decide what adjustments need to be made in its commercialization plan. Analysis of the issues: Most experts are skeptical about Global Thermostat’s technology.
